Split & Combine Orders
Splitting and combining orders helps operations match fulfillment work to stock position, warehouse availability, and customer expectations.
Use split orders when
- Some items can ship now and others cannot
- Different warehouses must fulfill the same order
- Hazardous or oversized items require a separate shipment
Use combined orders when
- Multiple orders from the same customer should ship together
- The ship window and destination are the same
- Operations wants to reduce label and carton count
Control points
- Confirm billing and shipping rules before changing structure
- Preserve notes and references during the update
- Recheck inventory allocation after the change
- Communicate customer impact if delivery timing changes
